What is a Dayton / Cast Spoke / Spider type Truck Wheel
Simulators for Dayton-Cast-Spoke Wheels
In the 50s, 60s, and 70s, this was the most common type of truck wheel.
Tires are mounted on cylindrical rims that have no center discs. These rims are mounted between two "spider" assemblies with through-bolts at the ends that clamped the wheel cylinders.
These wheel/rim systems are called spoke wheel/demountable rim systems.
Rims for spoke wheels are generally referred to as "Daytons" since Dayton was a big manufacturer of spoke wheel/demountable rim systems.
These wheels were phased out by about 1990.

Note the center-less wheel is held onto the hub spool by 6 nuts with triangular wedges.
For wheels like this, where the lugs are recessed inside of
the wheel rim, we do have ring-mount wheel covers.
